Library

Welcome to Waniora Public School’s library page. The library is open every day for classes. Every week, each class will have an hour library lesson, which promotes reading and information fluency skills.

Our fantastic team of Library Monitors (senior students) welcome all students Monday to Thursday lunch times to borrow books, relax and read, research, draw, colour in, play chess and hang out with friends.

Library events

Library Lovers ‘Blind Date with A Book’

This is a beginning of year initiative to encourage our students back into the library.  Students select a ‘blind’ (wrapped up) age appropriate book to ‘take on a date’ (borrow). Lots of fun!

Premiers Reading Challenge

We will be encouraging all students to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.  The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.

·       The opening date for entering books online is 26 February, 2024.

  • The closing date is 23rd August 2024.

Students use their school log-in to enter books in the challenge. Students will receive a Certificate on completion of the challenge.

For further information about the Premiers Reading Challenge visit https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html
